Consultation Restrictions

Consultation restrictions can prohibit an expert from participating in a particular consultation. Restrictions can be specific topics or subjects that an expert is prohibited from discussing, as well as limits on the number of times an expert may consult in a specified timeframe. Reuters Insight diligently records and monitors consultation restrictions for each expert in the Community. These restrictions can originate with:

  • Clients – Can choose to impose customized restrictions on their expert interactions.
  • Reuters Insight – Our internal restrictions provide a minimum that is applicable to all consultations in the following areas:
    • No expert may discuss their current employer’s business.
    • No expert may discuss their former employer’s business until six months after departure.
    • No expert may consult with known competitors of his/her employer.
    • Experts employed by public companies can participate in a maximum of three (3) consultations in a given calendar year, unless the relevant employer has furnished their written consent for participation to Reuters Insight.
  • Expert employers – Can limit or preclude their current employees’ ability to consult with Reuters Insight.
  • Experts – Upon registering, can stipulate their own restrictions while completing their expert profile, and can augment this information during the pre-consultation qualifying process.
